Update 3/27 - Dagamr had her story published! Klicken Sie hier: Tipp Ausgabe 208: Pferdezeitung - Online-Pferdemagazin mein Artikel ist gedruckt, wie finden Sie ihn?     Wow, how exciting for us, Miss Klondike Kitty (a North American Curly Horse) and Dagmar, her new owner in Germany. Dagmar has allergies to straight horses and there are only a handful of curlies in Germany. She had to give up her love of riding years ago as her reactions became too strong for her to enjoy it. So she went surfing the net and found us. 80 emails later she decided to purchase Kitty, whom their daughter has nicknamed Cjura. We now email daily as she is posted on Kitty's progress and we are posted on the progress of Kitty's new home.
Kitty has been vaccinated and quarantined, and will be Inspected by the Federal vet in the next week. She is scheduled to depart on February 13th. Then she will travel via trailer to Calgary to board the plane. She will fly into the Luxembourg airport where Dagmar and her family will pick her up. We will post pictures of Kitty's preparation for the trip as it happens, so keep watching!
February 25th, - Kitty is now in Germany and Dagmar reports that she is doing very well and everyone is extremely happy! I counted my emails a week ago and we were at 500! The above picture is from Dagmar and she says Kitty says Hello!
Dagmar says "Thank you for all of your kind efforts and support in helping us to bring a Curly horse to Germany!"
Finally! Kitty in Germany. Even the sun came out to great her. Her stomach is a bit upset, but she is enjoying her first freedom in a month. Dagmar reports that she had an excellent appetite and drank lots of water. 22 hours later Kitty is in her new box stall . The trip was uneventfull, aside from the delays.
Kitty checking out her new lodgings. Dagmar reported that she galloped around the field with her tail straight in the air! The dividers are in place and shavings ready to spread. The flight was delayed 6 hours, so it was a long night for us. We arrived back home at 7 in the morning.
The shipping crate being prepared for Kitty. The crates hold three horses and the horses have hay and water at all times. Ready to head down the highway. The trip to the airport takes 3 1/2 hours. She is checked every 1 1/2 hours.
February 12th, 21:00 hours MST. Kitty is loaded into the steralized trailer at Sunnybrook to head to Calgary to fly to Germany. February 1st. Kitty in her quarantine station, visiting with our kitten. She is handling her isolation well.
Kitty preparing for her trial runs. Since she is quarantined we have made this part of her daily exercise program. If only she knew where she was headed. Yeh, so now what? Jan. 19th, it was -18 and we received 10" of snow. Lets hope the weather co-operates 4 weeks from now!
The finishing touches are near completion. The manger is ready and the bedding prepared. Kitty's stall plate is posted and awaiting the arrival of Kitty.
The stable is finished, just getting the final coats of paint. This is quite an accomplishment in two months! It's not hard to see that Kitty is going to a home that loves her dearly. Dagmar's grandfather gave her a saddle that he handmade!
Kitty sporting her new boots that arrived from Dagmar in Germany, just in time for Christmas. Christmas greetings sent to Dagmar from Kitty
The Bridle rack awaiting Kitty's arrival. The stable is almost ready. Dagmar advised that they have made great progress in December.
Kitty's new home is really starting to look good! These pictures were taken November 22. Everything sure looks alot greener their than it is here right now! I think Kitty is going to be in heaven.
Clearing the ground in Germany! Dagmar and her family are building a new shelter for Kitty's arrival. Dagmar setting the first pole for the stable. Her daughter is as excited as everyone else there. Even grandma is building a halter!
The whole family is involved. Dagmar's daughter says hello to everyone her in Canada while dad sets another post. Looks to me like Kitty is going to be very spoilt there. Good thing the horses can't talk or Kitty would have every other horse here envious! The structure starts to take shape! This is going to be a stable every horse dreams about.
