You have come to our site because you, like us, recognize the amazing qualities of the Irish Draught Horse. Unsurpassed for improving temperament and bone on any Sport Horse. Thankyou for taking a moment and sharing some of our wonderful news about importing Jaunty Star from Ireland to Alberta, Canada.

Kim Hughes had a dream of owning an Irish Draught Stallion. During 2004 & 2005 she had bred a couple of her mares to an Irish Draught around Edmonton, Alberta and after seeing the quality of the foals that this cross produced, she knew she had to find one.

Then her search began. Not an easy task as all the correspondence had to be via email to Ireland!! but then she saw Jaunty (aka JJ). and fell in love. Kim had stumbled across Terrence Storr who had Irish Draught Horses that had been selectively bred since 1891. What more could we ask for, we knew we found a winner. In May of 2005 the coordination started to bring JJ to Canada. The rest as they say - is History!!

The Irish Draught breed in North America has welcomed the unique lineage of JJ. As one other breeder stated "he has a really neat variety of bloodlines in there! He is just loaded with Comet blood with 3 crosses to Gortlee and 2 to Glen Lad, lots of Lahinch and Laughton and a cross to Tara through Atlantic Boy! Very cool. His paternal granddam is half sister to Hangon Johnny." Wow!

Fall of 2006 and JJ is measuring 16.2hh!!

We are thrilled with JJ's temperament, size and conformation. If he continues to grow and improve as he has been, he will be impossible to beat for a herd sire!

Very forgiving, willing and friendly, everything we wanted in a stallion of his size and breeding.

JJ was measured on January 8th, 2006 and Terrence reported that he was 162 cm!

See the story of Jaunty's journey to Canada!

Below are some photo's of JJ while he was still in Ireland awaiting the day he would depart for Canada.

First a baby picture as a weanling.

Here's some photo's of JJ in Ireland from September, 2005. Sooo, he is only about 16 months old here!!

What lush, green meadows he has to roam in. He is pictured with a companion and almost as tall as this mare! Look at the height on him!!

Standing patiently in his stall overlooking the moores of Wales! Really like his eye. Very soft and trusting.

Next are pictures of Jaunty in his quarantine area during December 2005. The devotion and care that Terrence and his family provide for their horses is evident in his manners and condition. JJ could care less what is happening to him. Just like he is part of the family.
